I have been increasingly concerned about the threat to our democracy, in that those with money, power and access to, and in collusion with some politicians, are treating the democratic process as a commodity which can be bought and deployed for their own ends regardless of the greater good of the general public.
Through the very domestic and time consuming medium of hand sewing, I made a ’for sale’ sign similar to those used by estate agents where a piece of property is sold to he highest bidder. The choice of an honest, ’homely’ and very personal process contrasts with the often high tech, sophisticated and anonymous tools deployed by some of those wishing to subvert the democratic process.
